GMU Center for Statistical Consultation (GMUCSC)
GMU Center for Statistical Consultation is a unit within the Research Division of the Gulf Medical University, Ajman, United Arab Emirates. The unit is established to provide epidemiology and biostatistics consultation to the researchers within and outside Gulf Medical University, as well as pharmaceutical agencies. The division is actively involved in epidemiological and clinical research ranging from brief consultations to collaborative research.
1. Mission
Our mission is to provide professional assistance in the design and data management which includes computerization of data, coding and recoding, duplication elimination, analysis and interpretation of observations for research, thesis and dissertations for researchers, academicians, students and community at large.
2. We provide the following services:
2.1 Protocol development: Assistance is provided to the customers in developing statistically sound research protocol.
2.2 Data Management: Customers can obtain help in Data management including computerization of data, coding and recoding, duplication elimination, analysis and interpretation of observations of the research work.
2.3 Data Analysis and Interpretation of results: Appropriate statistical software will be used for statistical computing and can get help in the interpretation of computer output from statistical software.
3. Fees:
3.1 Initial consultation for one hour will not be charged and an estimate of the required number of hours will be provided to the customer. All subsequent and follow-up visits will be billed.
3.2 Collaborative Research and publication in lieu of fees: Some work may result in the publication of collaborative interdisciplinary research. In this case, consulting fee may be waived if co-authorship is granted to the university. 3.3 If the consultant is offered co-authorship, the work involved in analysing the data and preparing a report on the results will be charged at the usual rates, but assistance with writing and revising the manuscript for publication will be free from charges. In cases where the consultant is not to be a co-author, all services including assistance with writing manuscripts will be charged at the usual rates and acknowledgement of the consultant's contribution to the article is at the discretion of the author.
Billing
Payments will be made directly to the accounts department, Gulf Medical University, Ajman, UAE, during the period of consultation. Receipts will be given for all payments.
Non-Payment Policy
The GMUCSC reserves the right to discontinue its services at any time due to nonpayment of charges or for other concerns deemed reasonable by the Director. These services also can be resumed after charges have been paid including, pending and current or any other problem resolved to the Director's satisfaction.
Appointments
Customers are requested to make appointments with the Research Division, Gulf Medical University, Ajman, UAE by filling the form and send to research division either by fax or email.
Missed Appointments
Customers are requested to notify the Research Division Gulf Medical University, Ajman, UAE if they are unable to attend a scheduled appointment. Please email (researchdivision@gmu.ac.ae) or fax (06-7480779) if you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment.
How to consult
The Research Division is located in the Gulf Medical University Campus at Al-Jerf, Ajman, UAE. Please fill out the Request Form (attached) for Statistical Consultation and return via fax/email to the Research Division. Within two working days you will receive a reply regarding the date and timing of your appointment.
