Research Facilities

A state of art Medical Research Facility named Center for Advanced Biomedical Research and Innovation (CABRI) the apex lab of Thumbay Labs was inaugurated on 13th January 2014 by His Highness Sheikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Member of the Supreme Council UAE & Ruler of Ajman and set up within the premises of the Gulf Medical University at Ajman, UAE.

CABRI has three main areas of function – Clinical Research, High Complexity Laboratory Testing for super-specialties and Statistical Support for analysis of clinical research data and for the generation of evidence based clinical practice. Many new super specialty tests have been launched by CABRI in year of 2014-15, including Neo-natal Screening of infants for various inborn errors of metabolism, HLA Allele Specific Sequencing, Beta Thalassemia Mutation Detection by PCR, Chromosomal Analysis, Microarray based genetic testing and Immunohistochemical assays for cancer screening.

CABRI is assisting in the incubation of research ideas for value innovation, employing the Blue Ocean Strategy approaches, to enhance inter-university collaborations to create tangible (e.g. manpower) and intangible (e.g. trust, commitment) assets through small-scale collaborations and expanding the same to covering a wide range of activities including student mobility, staff mobility, academic partnerships (joint degree/ double degree/ international credit transfer), R&D, shared IPR and other forms of collaboration.
