COURSE DESCRIPTION
The Pharmacy Review course is designed for pharmacists who wish to pass various regulatory examinations to work as a registered pharmacists in U.A.E. This review program consists of six courses which would improve and refresh the knowledge in pharmaceutical calculations, various principles in drug dosage forms, designs, ethics and drug laws, general principles of pharmacology with emphasis on the drugs acting on different systems.

COURSE OUTCOMES
Upon successful completion of this course the applicant will be able to:

  1. Perform basic Pharmaceutical calculations needed in prescriptions and dispensing of different types of prescriptions.
  2. Select rationally Over the Counter (OTC) for common ailments.
  3. Describe the factors affecting the absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion of drugs.
  4. Apply the knowledge of the importance of dosage, form selection and efficiency of drugs in clinical outcome.
  5. Discuss the current pharmacy laws and explain how these and ethical issues become applicable in pharmacy practice.
  6. Indicate the drug interactions in the presented dose regimens based on specialized knowledge.
  7. State the major indications and contraindications for therapeutic agents.
  8. Solve problems in pharmacy practice based on specialized knowledge of various aspects of biopharmaceutics and pharmacokinetics.
  9. Review all above areas that are required for preparedness in taking a licensing / certificate examination as a pharmacist.


WHO SHOULD ATTEND THE COURSE

All who have completed Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy and wish to take up licensure procedure to work as a registered pharmacist.

Continuing Education Units
The course has been accredited for eighteen continuing education (CE) units awarded by the University. Although these CE units cannot be transferred to satisfy credit requirements in any diploma or degree level courses in which the candidates may enroll at a future date, they could be counted in advancement of career by the relevant institutions.
