COURSE DESCRIPTION
This infection control course is designed for non-clinical staff in health care facilities. The content of this program covers a wide spectrum of infection control - from a brief introduction to the microbiology of major organisms like MRSA and Clostridium difficile to transmission and prevention. The course also covers content on disease outbreaks, precautions, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), guidance documents from the CDC, and OSHA standards for Blood Borne Pathogens (BBP). Participants of this program will collaborate, interact, review material, and ultimately, learn from the reading materials and each other's knowledge and experiences.

COURSE OUTCOMES
Non-clinical managers and directors will be able to expand their knowledge and prepare for the many challenges facing healthcare facilities related to spread of infectious diseases in an adult learning and collaborative environment.

COURSE CONTENT

The role of microorganisms Occupational health practices 1 PPE Transmission of microorganisms in healthcare settings Occupational health practices 2 Physical Preventing transmission of infections Healthcare preparedness for disease outbreaks. Standard and Transmission-based precautions for all patient contact in healthcare settings Recognition, containment, and prevention of infection transmission.
