Introduction:

Education is the nerve center of all the developmental activities of a country. The development of a need based educational system will transform the society and lead it into the fast developing world. All developed nations of the world have reached their present levels of growth only through development of science and technology with properly planned educational systems of excellence. A dynamic education system will set the pace for growth, development and improvement in the standards of living of the people. Establishment of educational institutions of high quality will result in the development of the younger generation, moulding them into responsible citizens and builders of the nation.
 
Duration of Course Programme:
The total duration of the B.P.T Programme will be four years. The course is organized in a semester pattern for achieving better teaching and learning. Two semesters will be covered in one academic year, and thus, the entire four years of the course will be covered in 8 semesters. After the successful completion of the B.PT Programme, a 6months Compulsory Resident Rotating Internship (CRRI) training shall be organized for the graduates. The B.P.T degree shall be awarded only after the satisfactory completion of the internship.
 

          Curriculum:

The curriculum and the syllabi for the course shall be based on the general guidelines of the Ministry of Higher Education, Government of U.A.E. and as approved by the Academic Council from time to time. The medium of instruction is English.

 
Aims & Objectives:
The aims and objectives of the Gulf Medical College, Ajman shall be:
To maintain excellence in academic standards and to establish programmes to meet the ever expanding needs of medical education and to graduate a student who is intellectually, scientifically, ethically and morally strong as a competent physician. 
To train medical, paramedical and nursing personnel of high caliber with strong roots in Islamic values at the certificate/diploma/graduate/post graduate levels.
To provide an opportunity for the local citizens of the U.A.E to educate their children in medicine in their own country. 
To make facilities for qualified students of all nationalities to study medicine in the U.A.E. 
To introduce recent innovations in educational techniques and re-orientation of Medical Education to meet the needs of the society.
 
Eligibility for Admission:

Candidates for admission to the first year of the degree courses in B.P.T should have passed the Higher Secondary Certificate (H.S.C.) Examination or Advanced Supplementary (AS) level Examination of a University in U.K. after a period of 12 years of study with Biology, Chemistry and Physics as the main subjects or any other examinations considered equivalent with proficiency in English. Candidates who have passed the advanced supplementary (AS) level examination of a University in U.K. with two of the subjects (Physics, Chemistry and Biology) will be considered eligible for admission provided they have completed all the three subjects (Physics, Chemistry and Biology) in their O Levels. Candidates who may not be proficient in written and spoken English are required to go through a course in English before beginning their Physical Therapy studies at the Gulf Medical College. A candidate at the time of the admission must produce evidence of medical fitness from a registered medical practitioner. Age Limit for Admission A candidate seeking admission to these courses should have completed the age of 17 years at the time of admission or would complete

The applicant must have proficiency in spoken and written English and Science terminology. The applicant must produce documentary proof of having passed the TOEFL or equivalent examination in English Language proficiency with a minimum TOEFL score of 530 (written) or its equivalent.

Scrutiny of Application:
The Dean and Committee Members will scrutinize the applications and decide which candidates fulfill the prescribed requirements to appear for the entrance test. The decision of the President in this regard will be final.
 
Interview:
The candidates will be intimated to appear for the Interview to be conducted by the college. Requests for change of date will not be entertained. 
The Interview will be held at Gulf Medical College Ajman. The candidate will be assessed on subject knowledge, analytical skill comprehension, aptitude, motivation and knowledge of English. Candidates must make their own arrangements for residential accommodation to attend the interview and must bear all their traveling and other expenses. The result will be intimated by post/fax/phone within a week. The approval and decision of the President is final regarding all admissions.
Verification of Academic Records and Certificates :
A limited number of candidates chosen on the basis of their performance in the Interview and other records, will be selected for admission. Candidates are requested to bring with them the following original certificates: 
A. University Marks Card 
B. Qualification Certificate 
C. Medical Certificate 
D. Conduct Certificate 
E. Certificate of Age 
Extra Curricular Activities (if any) clearly stating whether the  activity was Inter-Collegiate, Inter-University, or Inter-State and endorsed by the Principal of the College last attended.
 
Acceptance of Admission:
Candidates who are finally selected for admission are required to submit (within the time announced on the notification of selection) a letter of acceptance to the President, along with the fee in cash, or by demand draft drawn in favor of Gulf Medical College Ajman and payable at Ajman, U.A.E. Failure to comply with this requirement will result in cancellation of the admission. The fee paid will not be refunded, once the candidate is admitted to the college, or leaves the college after joining but before completing the course. Classes will commence in September 2007 Admitted candidates must attend the classes from the opening day itself.
 
Application Procedure & Preparation:
Prospectus and application form are available at the college office and can be mailed on request. The duly completed application form for admission should be submitted to the college office within the stipulated time. The college will not be responsible for any loss or delay in postal service. 
Preparation :
Candidates should study the instructions and requirements set out in the Application Form and Prospectus carefully before completing the form. If these are not strictly complied with, the application will be rejected. Where false statements in the application are discovered after admission has been granted, such admission will be cancelled, and the fees paid will not be refunded. For easy reference, all inquiries after submission of the application, should quote the SERIAL NUMBER given at the top of the application form. This number should be carefully noted down. No notice will be taken of any communication where the serial number is not quoted. All communications from the college will be sent to the address of correspondence given in the application; no change in this address will be accepted.
 
Enclosures :
1. The Application Form filled in block letters. 
2. Copies of original certificates as specified on (under the section Verification of Academic Records and Certificates). Original certificates are to be produced only at the time of personal interview.
The Application Form is to be returned to the college, with photograph affixed at space provided. Enclosing recommendation letters will amount to canvassing and lead to disqualification. 
 
Submission :
The application form duly completed and accompanied by the above must be delivered to the office of the President, or sent by Registered Post-Acknowledgement due, so as to reach the office on or before the last date announced. The college will not entertain any plea of delay or loss of applications in postal transit. Online applications and applications on e-mail for candidates outside U.A.E. will be accepted temporarily. The candidate will be required to submit the original application form properly completed at the time of the interview.
