Graduate employability encompasses more than academic strength, focusing on 'work-readiness' - the ability to work effectively in a multicultural team, to deliver presentations, to manage people and projects. Common indicators in this area are surveys of employers, graduate employment rates and level of career service support. Indicators for the Employability category are:
Employer Reputation
Maximum points for 40 employer referees or more. Scaled proportion of the points thereafter based on employer survey data from the QS World University Rankings®.
Graduate Employability
Maximum points for 80% of graduated students employed within 12 months of graduation (excluding those not actively seeking work e.g. pursuing further study)
Careers Service
Maximum points for 10 full-time careers advisors OR one full-time career advisor per 1000 students.

TEACHING

A key role of a university is the nurture of tomorrow's finest minds, inspiring the next generation of potential research academics. Typical indicators here are domestic teaching quality assessments, collation of student feedback, national student surveys and student faculty ratios. Indicators for the Teaching category are:
Overall Student Satisfaction
Maximum points for 75% student satisfaction or higher with scaled scores down to 50% student satisfaction. Results based on a minimum 20% response rate using the National Student Satisfaction Survey or equivalent.
Satisfaction with Teaching
Maximum points for 75% student satisfaction or higher with scaled scores down to 50% student satisfaction. Results based on a minimum 20% response rate using the National Student Satisfaction Survey or equivalent.
Further Study
Maximum points for 30% of graduated students pursuing further study within 12 months of graduation
Student/faculty ratio
Maximum points for a 10:1 (10%) student/faculty ratio

INFRASTRUCTURE

University infrastructure talks about the facilities available to students at a university, providing students with some insight into the environment they can expect for their university experience. Indicators for the Infrastructure category are:

Sporting Facilities
A maximum of 2 points for each of the following on-campus facilities with 4 bonus points for 6 or more: (i) swimming pool; (ii) fitness gym; (ii) indoor sports courts; (iii) outdoor sports courts; (iv) outdoor sports pitches; (v) athletics track; (vi) stadium; (vii) full-time sports coaches and/or medical staff
Medical Facilities
Maximum points for one on-campus medical centre with minimum 1 full time qualified medical doctor OR One full time nurse per every 3000 full time students
Student Societies
Maximum points for 20 student administered organizations
Students accommodation
Maximum points for the same number of rooms as first year students
IT Infrastructure
Maximum points for one on computer per 5 students OR internet access in every university provided student room OR WIFI access across 80% of campus area (excluding parks and sports fields)
Library Facilities
Maximum points for investment of $100 per student over the past year OR one new library catalogue entry per student

INTERNATIONALIZATION

Students are studying outside their home countries at higher volumes than ever, and this mobility is accelerating. Universities are changing to meet this demand and leading institutions are at the forefront. For prospective international students, seeing a track-record of an institution for looking after international aspects as well as getting a sense for the international nature of the experience they can expect is increasingly important. Indicators identified to provide this insight are:

Maximum points for 25 university research collaborations with QS top 500 universities in previous three years published
International Students
Maximum points for 20% international students
International Student Support

Maximum points for 20 nationalities represented in student body

ENGAGEMENT

In the majority of cases, universities own a great deal of property; are significant employers within their local context; and have significant responsibilities to their local, regional and often national economies and communities. In the 21st century universities can no longer draw the line at the conventional missions of teaching and research but have to also embrace the "third mission". Knowledge transfer is part of this mix, but also regional and community engagement and widening participation. This is likely to be one of the areas where this methodology evolves most rapidly but current indicators are:

Maximum points for 1% of turnover or USD$2 million (whichever is smaller) contribution to community projects within 200km of any campus of affiliated facility.
